I’ve always felt like everything in my life needed to be perfect for me to be truly happy. I found myself repeatedly saying, I’ll be happy when… But even when I finally got what I wanted, there was always something else I was striving for. I’ve realized that I can’t keep putting my joy on pause. The time to be happy is NOW.
Life isn’t meant to be perfect—it’s meant to be lived. And that means feeling a full spectrum of emotions with all the inevitable ups and downs we face. And just because we’re going through tough times, doesn’t mean we can’t find joy despite that. There’s always something to be grateful for—even if it’s simply waking up in the morning with air in our lungs. Not everyone gets that privilege. The hard times we go through are meant to strengthen us and teach us the lessons we need to learn. And the good times show us just how beautiful life can be, despite our problems.
I’ve found that I’ve gotten closer to God during my difficult times. I’ve been focusing on prayer and handing over all my worries and anxieties to him. I’ve realized there’s no use in worrying about the things I can’t control. It’s only robbing me of my happiness. And I always need to remind myself that there’s purpose in the pain…even if I don’t know what that purpose is yet.
If you’re facing tough times, remember that you’re not alone. Hardships are a part of life, and it’s okay to feel joy and happiness even when we’re sad or grieving. Embracing all of these emotions and allowing yourself to feel them fully is what’s going to lead to healing and growth. I’m on this journey with you.
